American Vegan Center

Since 1960 the American Vegan Society (AVS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has worked to promote veganism to a growing public audience. Our initiatives have helped make “vegan” a household word today. We are working toward a compassionate world.

Each year, AVS hosts special-occasion events that increase public awareness and understanding of the value of vegan living and the appeal of vegan food. From our annual American Vegan Garden Party to holiday dinners, with biannual celebrations such as the Philly Vegan Awards and the Harvest Gala, AVS helps people appreciate good vegan food. Additionally, calendar-based promotions such as Vegan Cuisine Month (February) and Dynamic Harmlessness Day (November 2) serve to educate people about vegan dishes and vegan ideals, respectively.
